  1. The Symposium proceedings will be published under the title “Marine fisheries, ecosystems, and societies in West Africa: half a century of change» with the following people as scientific editors: Moctar BA, Pierre CHAVANCE, Didier GASCUEL, Daniel PAULY and Michael VAKILY.
  2. The proceedings will be published in two versions: (i) as a hard copy in the series ACP-EU Fisheries Research Report of the European Union and (ii) on CD-Rom in the series “Colloques et Séminaires”, Editions IRD.
  3. The presentations made during the Symposium can be submitted for publication in the proceedings either as complete manuscripts or as notes. Authors of posters are encouraged to submit notes.
  4. The calendar is as follows:
    • 1 October 2002: deadline for the reception of the manuscripts;
    • 15 January 2003: deadline for sending the manuscripts after revision and correction to the authors;
    • 31 March 2003: deadline for the reception of the manuscripts with the final proof gave by the author.
  5. These should be submitted to the senior editor, P. CHAVANCE, in Word format
  6. Peer review will be provided by the members of the Scientific Committee who will strive to ensure quality, i.e., help the papers to reach the desired quality and not simply act as evaluators of whether a paper should be accepted or not. To do so, a detailed guide to the authors was designed. Furthermore, flow charts are also proposed by Ch. MASSON, consultant in scientific communication, in order to help authors structuring their contribution.
