Krista is from cottage country, Ontario and shortly after graduating high school she moved to Townsville, Australia to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Zoology from James Cook University.
Throughout her studies she has worked in Kenya, Seychelles, Costa Rica and Borneo, mostly focusing on ocean conservation and marine park management. Krista joined the Sea Around Us in 2011 as a Master of Science student under Daniel Pauly and her thesis focused on global fishing effort and carbon dioxide emissions from marine fisheries from 1950 – 2010. Her current role continues to focus on updating and maintaining the global fishing effort and CO2 databases.
In her spare time she likes nothing better than heading outdoors with her dog Nelly, be it rain or shine.
